Midlothians Fill Out Roster with Two New Additions

Welcome Massimo Smirolda and Connor Preece to the Midlothian team. Massimo comes to us from Colonie and Connor joins us from Ballston Spa/Alleycats. Watch for great things from these two players. We also welcome Nate Costello to our Super Y Roster.

GET BETTER LUKE, SAMMY and NIALL

We miss you! We look forward to having you back, so heal fast.

TEAM FUNDRAISER:
we will begin our fundraising campaign for the April 2009 Italy trip with a sale of Hoffman Carwashes. There are two tickets available and $8 car wash and the $17 "inside out" car wash. With each sale we keep 50%. I will have tickets for distrubution shortly and will keep a record of individual sales.

The final Blackwatch Club Payment is due February 15. If you have not made this payment, please log onto www.blackwatchsoccer.or to make your final payment.

NIKE FOOTWEAR CARD
• If you are having problems inputing the code on the back of the $50 Nike Footware incentive cards from WeGotSoccer given out the other day, put the code in the comments section, the people at WeGotSoccer will manually give you the $50 discount.

Those missing uniforms will be receiving them in the next month. Those wanting to get the bags and warm ups embroidered with player numbers, we can make a group drop off. (Does someone want to coordinate?) I estimate this to be about $8 per player.

VOUNTEER'S NEEDED

The Blackwatch Organization is looking for volunteers to help with the many programming areas of the club. If you are interested in getting involved fill out the volunteer form (there will be one on the links page) and drop off in the Blackwatch office. You will be contacted when there is a meeting.

choosen to US Club Soccer ID2 Camp

Upon the conclusion of scouting players, selected players are invited to attend the id2 Regional Training Camps. Three regional training camps are held across the country and consist of four days of training sessions and matches, and also classroom and Q&A sessions. Coaches with National Team, Professional and Collegiate coaching experience conduct the camps. US Soccer Youth Development Program staff are on-site at each event to scout players for possible inclusion in the National Team Programs.

Region 1 ODP Team

Morgan Smith (94) participated as part of the Region 1 ODP team at the Thanksgiving Interregionals. Following is an article discribing...

Top national talent will converge on Disney's Wide World of Sports® Complex for the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (US Youth Soccer ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional. They will practice on Friday, November 23, with competition play beginning on the 24th and running through Monday, November 26.
Continuing its tradition of elite play, competition and player development, youth from the nation’s elite player identification and development program, US Youth Soccer ODP, will train and compete in front of U.S. Soccer National Team Staff and leading collegiate coaches to maximize their exposure for selection to National Teams and collegiate programs.
The US Youth Soccer ODP Boys Thanksgiving Interregional will represent teams in the 1992, 1993 and 1994 age groups.
The US Youth Soccer ODP program is viewed as the premier identification and development program for the nation’s youth seeking the opportunity to compete at the national and collegiate levels of play.
"US Youth Soccer ODP has played a meaningful role in player development in the United States," said head coach of the U.S. Soccer Under-17 Men’s National Team, John Hackworth. "The players develop in US Youth Soccer ODP by continually being placed in more competitive environment, such as playing internationally with regional teams. This provides these elite players from across the nation with valuable experience and a platform to improve. The US Youth Soccer ODP contributes to the encompassing effort of identifying potential players for the U.S. National Team programs."
This event is one of the many events offered to players who compete in the US Youth Soccer ODP Program. The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program was formed in 1977 to identify a pool of players in each age group from which a National Team will be selected for international competition; to provide high-level training to benefit and enhance the development of players at all levels; and, through the use of carefully selected and licensed coaches, to develop a mechanism for the exchange of ideas and curriculum to improve all levels of coaching.

Morgan was choosen to participate on Region 1 team from various camps, including the Region 1 Call Back Camp and the National U14 ID Pool Camp last summer.
